Understanding the CDCP

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a programme initiated by the Government of Canada to provide essential dental services to those who might not otherwise be able to afford them. It targets those with a household income of less than $90,000 yearly and covers many preventive and restorative dental services that can improve health and quality of life.

Open enrollment is ongoing now for the 2026-27 year for new participants. Those who had the CDCP in the 2025-26 year should have renewed it by June 1 to avoid losing coverage. They can renew their coverage but will experience a gap in benefits from June 1 until they are approved.

What Is Covered by the CDCP?

When Can I Use My CDCP Benefits?

Application isn’t a guarantee of acceptance. We can’t schedule an appointment using CDCP benefits until you receive your welcome letter from the CDCP administrator, which includes all of your information. You will need that information to make an appointment. It could take a couple of months to get your welcome kit.
